Fear Not, Worry Not

Why would a born-again Christian be worried or have fear in life? This life is just a vapor. However, eternal life is forever. Why would a born-again fret about life when you know the final prize? The prize of salvation. I tend to think about this physical life as a boot camp that serves as training for the metaphysical life awaiting us all. In such training, we as Christians should operate in Christ and carry out God’s Will for us to spread his Word and help our fellow brethren. Once you change your outlook on life in this way, you tend to concentrate less on what life brings you. Of course no one delights in welcoming pain, anguish, disappointment, and/or grief. However, keeping in mind that there is a better place after this life becomes liberating after a point in time, allowing you to refocus your view on life. But if your mind is focused on life as a finality, you will surely fret about things in this life. Now one who chooses not to become born-again and puts their trust in God should worry and fear because such a person has not secured their afterlife in Heaven. “[18] Whoever believes and has decided to trust in Him [as personal Savior and Lord] is not judged [for this one, there is no judgment, no rejection, no condemnation]; but the one who does not believe [and has decided to reject Him as personal Savior and Lord] is judged already [that one has been convicted and sentenced], because he has not believed and trusted in the name of the [One and] only begotten Son of God [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind, the One who alone can save him]” (John 3:18 AMP). Although life is wrought with tribulation and perils, if you place your undivided, unbridled trust in God, He always provides for all our needs. You will never face more than you can handle.

A born-again has the gift of salvation no matter what happens in their life. On top of that, a born-again always has the umbrella of protection provided by God through grace and the unwavering love of God, who looks after his children more so than any parent on Earth. “[25] Therefore I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? [Luke 12:22-31] [26] Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed]nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? [27] And who of you by worrying can add one hour to [the length of]his life? [Ps 39:5-7] [28] And why are you worried about clothes? See how the lilies and wildflowers of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin [wool to make clothing], [29] yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory and splendor dressed himself like one of these. [1 Kin 10:4-7] [30] But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive and green today and tomorrow is [cut and] thrown [as fuel] into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! [31] Therefore do not worry or be anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted), saying, ‘What are we going to eat?’ or ‘What are we going to drink?’ or ‘What are we going to wear?’ [32] For the [pagan] Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; [but do not worry,] for your heavenly Father knows that you need them. [33] But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. [34] “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. This is not to say unbelievers do not benefit from the favor of God, but such favor is not forever” (Matthew 6:25-34 AMP). Thus, it behooves one to come to Christ as God’s favor towards unbelievers will not be forever, unlike His favor towards those who choose Him which is everlasting. Why fret as a Christian, once God’s favor is forever?
